Step 1: Choose Raters
Selecting people you believe can make the most accurate judgements about you is an important part of the process. You should choose up to 23 people you consider will be able to comment honestly about you and whose views you respect.
Appropriate raters are:
- Self
- Line manager(s) - those to whom you report
- Peers - people who are outside your line management chain but operate at a similar managerial level within the organisation
- Direct Reports - those who report to you
- Others - see advice below
The 'others' category may be used for raters who are not peers or direct reports but who still work closely with you. These raters might be more junior staff, staff from other departments or professional colleagues from other agencies, organisations or companies.
In order to ensure meaningful information about yourself, it is essential that you select 3 or more raters in each of the following categories - Peers, Direct Reports and Others. If less than 3 raters respond in any of those categories, your data cannot be reported and an error message will appear.
Owing to the possibility of raters failing to respond, we recommend that you choose at least 4 or 5 in each of these categories. In some cases, participants may have more than 1 line manager.
Before you go on-line to complete the registration process and undertake the questionnaire, we ask you to complete the enclosed registration document with the names of your raters and e-mail addresses. It is important that you talk to each of them (or send them an email/letter) to ask if they would be happy to provide feedback on you. You might want to summarise the aim of the process and clarify your timescales with them at this stage.
Please note that while the process ensures anonymity for all colleagues, direct reports and others, your line manager's responses will not be anonymous.
Step 2: Go online and enter details of your raters
To do this you will need to enter your Participant Access Code and password on the login page at www.e-pol360.co.uk. This access code and password will be sent to you via email.
On entering the system for the first time, you can choose to enter rater details or complete your self-assessment.
Rater details can be entered in multiple visits to the site, but we recommend that you try and enter them all on your first visit.
Step 3: Participant & Raters complete Questionnaires
Once you have selected the raters and entered their details, the system will automatically correspond with your raters via email and invite them to go online and complete the questionnaire. It is essential therefore that they have been forewarned by you about this process.
Should you have any difficulties entering the details or completing the on-line questionnaire, please contact the epol360 Administration Team at:
